To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Senior Staff Accountant opportunity, you will need:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience including experience with month-end close
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with an emphasis in Accounting (highly preferred) or the equivalent combination of education and experience  Quick question for you - click here
  • Strong understanding of accounting including skill with general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, tax filings, etc.
  • Good understanding of income and balance sheets, and debits and credits
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including advanced ability in Excel
  • Experience with JD Edwards preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate company needs or positions to both internal and external clients, associations, or entities. 
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task independently, proactively reaching out for guidance when needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as a strong team member, following standard practices and procedures.
Travel may be required, once it is safe again, but no more than 3 or 4 days per quarter.

Serve as the owner of the general ledger and be responsible for month-end close


Reporting to the Group Controller, as Senior Staff Accountant, you will contribute to the overall accounting team success through support and assistance with general ledger focused accounting responsibilities and reporting tasks. This role has a great deal of hands-on responsibility as you complete processes and follow set procedures, but you'll also mentor/support more junior accountants as needed. You'll work collaboratively with others, such as AP/AR, pulling in needed data for reporting and month- and year-end close. You will also support budgeting and forecasting and more.

Specifically, you will:
  • Perform and own the month-end processes for your assigned division of the E2E group. This includes coordinating with the AR/AP teams and reviewing any entries they are making or reconciliations they are creating.
  • Maintain accurate and clear account reconciliations, including bank, prepaid asset, sales tax, and accrued liability reconciliations. Create and record reconciling journal entries.  Quick question for you - click here
  • Book monthly journal entries for depreciation, amortization, fixed asset capitalization, etc. Assist with fixed asset records and approvals for the division.
  • Assist Group Controller with year-end close activities. 
  • Generate customer credits arising from RGAs and/or customer pricing.
  • Perform ad hoc projects, reporting and account analyses as required by CFO and Group Controller.
  • Assist outside tax firm in preparing income tax and franchise tax filings.  Manage distribution or responses as appropriate for business license filings, escheatment filings, and customer information requests as needed.
  • Generate and distribute regular internal reports.
  • Assist Group Controller with implementing cost and process improvements for the division.
  • Assist with daily cash management and intercompany entries, as required, including monthly intercompany account reconciliations.
  • Provide finance support to other departments within the organization as needed, at the direction of the Group Controller.
  • Coach and supervise development opportunities for others, including the staff accountant.
