To be a good fit for the IT Specialist opportunity, you will have:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an IT helpdesk/operations environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Office products including MS Exchange.
  • Familiarity with basic hardware troubleshooting of PCs; experience with Dell computers is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of networks and operating systems (Windows OS).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with users.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work independently and also contribute actively to the larger help desk team.
Preferred but not required:
  • A degree in Computer science.
  • Experience repairing and troubleshooting Macs.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN administration.
You will work typical business hours, and will need to be available to work weekends and outside normal business hours to assist in the resolution of unplanned and planned maintenance and to support end-users. You'll also participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation once every few weeks.

Reporting to the Help Desk Manager, you will provide technical support and troubleshooting to end-users at both local and at remote locations on any technical issues including phone, network, operating system, physical device, portable device, MS Office, Office 365, and other software, virus and malware removal and escalate based on priority. This will include maintaining, monitoring and configuring backup software to ensure reliable recovery of company data. For the most part you will support about 50 users in Bengaluru, and sometimes users in other locations. Most requests through the ticket system, and you will reach out to the user, identify the problem and either fix it or escalate as necessary. Typical requests include sign-on issues, password resets, etc. In addition, our hope is that you become the main point of contact for local hardware suppliers, including ordering laptops and more.

More specifically, you will:
  • Provide user and client support by installing, maintaining and troubleshooting malfunctions on computer hardware, software, networking, telecommunication, mobile devices, printers and audio/visual conferencing equipment. Log and track each request and maintain updated status via Intranet-based ticketing system.
  • Work with vendors to support hardware and software. Research, recommend, negotiate and purchase network infrastructure hardware, software and services. Manage hardware and software maintenance agreements, license compliancy and service contract renewals.
  • Upgrade, troubleshoot/resolve and maintain LAN/WAN hardware, software applications and operating systems in a heterogeneous environment including MS Windows OS for PCs and servers, and telecommunications.
